Bettie Page passed away. She was 85. What a classic icon. Brings back memories of old Bourbon Street for me.

Here is a link, with a few classic shots if you click on her picture.

Perhaps one of the pics will show up in Suzy's avatar!

By the way... has anyone seen one of the Burlesque shows at HOB or Royal Sonesta?

Hi Oyster,
I've had one of Bettie's more tame;) Christmas pictures since the day after Thanksgiving as my avatar.

She certainly had a very full, tragic, long, sad, successful interesting life!

The burlesque show you mentioned, Bustout Burlesque is My friend Rick (Delaup's) show, send me a message if there's anything you'd like to know about it.

Thanks Suzy! I think I got enough info from the links you posted. I just spent an hour grazing through all of the sights and links. Some great old pics of the Quarter too!

I can't imagine 900 in HOB for the show! Are there tables? Is it standing room like concerts? Sure would like to hook up with Foundation Room connection for it...

And...the next show Dec 20 just happens to be my Bday! Hummm....

Bettie Page was such a fascinating mixture of open sensuality and 'the girl next door'. I can't imagine the courage it took to be such a ground breaker.

And of course, it adds to the whole mystique that she disappeared from the public eye during her prime.

I read a little bit about her on a memorial page last night, it seems that she suffered terribly, emotionally, for most of her life. She has certainly left her mark! Rest in peace.

I will call Rick and get back to you. :toast:
Cool beans on your birthday!

I know there were resrved tables in the past at the HIB's, and at the Royal Sonesta.

PS: Great pic JudiB!
I have done much reading and research on Bettie Page over the past 10 years. She certainly will be part of american pop culture/history.

Great.
Betty hanging ornaments and tinsel on a tree, and the pic is in "landscape."

I'd give $ for a Portrait view...

Oyster, all I did was google Bettie Paige Christmas and switch to "images". That picture is available for the snagging, uncropped, all over the internet. And it's beautiful, that's for sure.... just not appropriate for here, which is why I posted the one I did.

I didn't know she had passed away. I always thought she was fabulous!
