Northshore Dining Day

Because I'm lucky enough to only work a four day week, I went out Monday for both lunch and dinner and figure I'd report my findings.
For lunch we went to the Sesame Inn on Causeway Approach very close to the bridge. First of all, the people who own and work at the restaurant are super friendly. Really very nice people. Anyway, I ordered crab rangoon which I was planning on giving my son and an order of both egg rolls and spring rolls as appetizers. I am not normally big on crab rangoon but these were excellent. The filling was light, with a surprisingly large amount of crabmeat and vegetables. They were perfectly fried. I never thought I could be impressed by this dish, but I was. The egg rolls and spring rolls were also top notch. The lunch special of General Tso's chicken and fried rice were also very good. This meal was significantly better than the last time I was at Trey Yuen, and for a grand total of $19. Hard to beat.
For dinner we picked up takeout from Rag's in Mandeville on 22. Both of has Roast Beef Po-Boys, which were good, but the meat was maybe a little too garlicky for my wife's tastes but great for mine. We split an order of onion rings, which were battered and delicious. We got a fried shrimp plate for the kid, and they were perfectly fried and quite tasty.
All in all it was a good day of food.
