LOL, the straw is definitely part of the 'experience' of bubble tea.
Sadly, the mama in me thinks of how easy it would be to slurp that rubber ball into your throat.... and choke, especially for the little ones. (sigh... I know I know, I'm no fun!)

JudiB, you are right about kids and the pearls. It scares me and I'm not one of those overprotective mamas. I order theirs without pearls and mine with. But then I got hooked on a mango tea with green jellies. MMMmmm!
Darn, now I'm goona have to hit up some Vietnamese soon. Does Saigon have bubble tea? I don't remember seeing any in there.
IMHO, the best Vietnamese Po Boy to be had for the price is at the Hong Kong market. Two fiddy gets you one loaded up with fresh stuff right in front of you. Try the red bbq and a pork bun while you are there.
Re boba tea, both of my kids, 2 1/2 yrs and 16 months, love it. Though they can me messy with it. Be careful because one end of the wide straw is pointed...

Saigon doesnt have bubble tea, or at least not that I noticed, but Frosty's, just the other side of Vet's on Cleary does.
I think bubble tea is novel and like to have one once in a while.

ok, going after one tomorrow...I have to try this. I will give up my Sunday afternoon green apple snowball from Ro-Bear's for a bubble tea. What flavor do you get?

My favorite flavor is avocado, hands down. I have tried others and others are good also, but nothing comes close to avocado. My boyfriend always gets the watermelon at Frosty's, and it is amazing, but it's no match for avocado. I know it sounds kinda crazy, but you just have to try it.
I went to Frosty's once with some friends from another forum. suep I'm pretty sure got the avacado... I remember she used much the same wording as you're using, nolagirl... it's a weird combo, but delicious. I'm going to try it next time.
