I drank my first one out of the bottle on Friday. I give it mixed reviews. First, there's no citrus, satsuma taste to the beer at all. So even if it is an ingredient, I would hardly call it a "satsuma" flavored beer. The Wit flavor is very strong, especially the first couple of sips. I'd probably drink a few more of these but there is now a boatload of different locally brewed beers in the market in the last few months and I can't see myself coming back to the Wit anytime soon.

Tried it yesterday, I won't be spending any of my money on this beer. Did not care for it at all.

A friend of mine ordered this Tuesday night and I tried it. Didn't like it. I chuckled because I ordered a NOLA brown and he ordered the orange kool-aid, when the bartender came back with the beers she assumed the girly beer was for me and gave him the NOLA brown. Cute.

I have not had one yet, as I do not like that style of brew. I will try one so that I can report here as to myopinion. I do know that my oldest son, wo oves wit beers, thinks it is great. It may do better in other states, however, I am not sure of our distribution of the harvest series of brews out of state.
I am still drinking Jockmomo I spell it differently than Abita does) IPA, Turbodog and Oatmeal Stout (I have about a case left).

I think this beer is being dumped on because of not liking the particular wit style of beer rather than this being a bad beer. I'd like to know how it compares to others of the same style. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me by the end of my first 6 pack. I think people were expecting an orange version of the strawberry lager and this ain't it.

That is a good point josemama. A very good point. The reason I have not tried it, is that I don[t care for that style at all. My son and several of my brothers would say it is one of their favorite styles. It certainly is not a satsuma version of the strawberry lager, thats for sure. Not that that would be a bad thing.

That's exactly why it is being dumped on. As far as style goes, it is a pretty good Belgian Wit, but again, that's not my style. I guess I expected an orange version of the strawberry lager. I drink a lot of Bell's Oberon, which has an orange-citrus flavor to it, and Sam Adams has a pretty good Summer Ale out right now. I had hoped for something similar, but I don't taste any Satsuma in the Abita Wit. With temps in the 100's, the banana and spice doesn't do it for me.

Is this available anywhere in bottles? If not, would you consider a beer trade for a couple? I will be back in town during the first week in August and I can get just about anything here in Tampa (Bell's, Rogue, DFH, Oskar Blues, etc.). Would be happy to bring some beer in or ship it.

Kevin, contact me when you are in town (or just before you come). If I have any left, I will give you a few bottles (or drink a few with you). It is all but impossible to get in bottles. I got the last 2 or 3 cases a while back. It was a limited bottling for in house use.

Kevin, do whatever you need to to take TurboDog up on his offer. I loved that Oatmeal Stout. I tried a sip of someone's satsuma the other night and did not care for it either. We are pretty much sticking with Jockomo and Turbodog these days.

I finally got my hands on a bottle. I like this style so it was fine for me. I did not taste any citrus at first but my last swallow from the glass had warmed up a bit and I got a big hit of citrus. Next bottle I will let come to cellar temp and enjoy.
