crawfish enchiladas packed great flavor. the curried chicken pattie is a must.

for years I held off on the crawfish monica, as it was just okay. revisited it this year, and still think it's bland and overrated. also revisited the crawfish bread, and it's still bland and lacking any crawfish.

alligator sauce piquant is to die! trout baquet is still a winner, w'a healthy portion of both trout and crabmeat. crawfish beignets were okay. boudin balls were better. the p/d/a gumbo tasted like more; wish I was going back.

All great recommendations. But to me, more important is what not to eat. Unless you're an out of towner, why on earth would you eat red beans and rice, fried chicken, jambalaya, BBQ chicken, or BBQ anything.

Worst of all is Crawfish. It's expensive, a pain in the ass, incredibly messy (without a means to clean up), and you have that lingering cayenne factor that sticks to your fingers and somehow ends up in your eyes or your johnson before the day's out. Then everyone leaves the remnants strewn all around the tables and surrounding areas. The single worst selection at the fest, on a multitude of levels.

Dunno. Unless the same reason a dog licks his ba**s?
