Duke, it's good to hear you are enforcing the no mixie politics & food rule!Duke wrote:Politics and food indeed do NOT mix. We had this discussion among our own staff this past week. Some of the staff wanted to turn on the debate(s). I said we would do so only if the dining room was a) empty or b) had only one table that specifically asked to watch. Turns out the latter was the case for the VP debate.
In general, the debates have been a real business-killer. Otherwise, our TV is off, tuned to something non-offensive (TCM) or showing sports. I also prefer the sound stay off, unless something major is happening. At least when I'm in the house, which is most of the time.
Same here..but if Doug is home..he is glued to it. Growing up the tv was always turned off at dinner time. But then again, I don't watch TV while I am eating at home, even if it's just a sandwich or cheese & crackers. If I don't do it at home, I certainly don't want to pay to do it elsewhere.
We went to see Marcia Ball several years ago in Kansas City...she started spouting off anti Bush remarks and several couples got up and left. Yes, they're entitled to their feelings...but we don't have to listen to it.JRO wrote:Last week I was at a little bar I frequent to hear a local guitar player. He took a long break when the debate came on & spouted way too much democratic crap than I wish to hear from a musician. He hurt himself in his pocket because I usually tip him quite well. My friend showed up & I told him not to get a beer because I was leaving. Cashed in my $70 from video poker & halled ass home.
Just don't want to hear that from someone that I am paying to play good music

HO, I never really knew the appeal of an ipod, but I am beginning to see the possibilities! Thanks!
