What else did you find out?!

Isa, what specifically are you looking for?

Here's some more comments about the place on TF's board.

I wonder if it would be possible to walk into Natco and purchase a whole piece of beef. My dad buys his USDA prime directly from the wholesaler (he lives in NJ). While the price fluctuates with the market, the last time he bought a whole NY strip loin it ran around $8 a pound. I think he buys a 0x1 or 1x1 (trimmed with next to no waste). The wholesaler doesn't advertise as selling to the public, but if you walk in with cash in hand, no problem. My dad's advice was "don't call, they'll tell you no. Show up with the cash". I am currently flush with about 18 frozen cryovaced steaks so it will be a while before I try.

Well, when someone says they had a long conversation with someone, likely there are details - some of which might not be readily known.
I LOVE DETAILS. Anyway, I'm not looking for anything in particular, just
looking for a way to better know this place.

Actually, thinking about it, I guess I'm looking for something
to sway me to go out to Harahan & blow some $ at this place.

I picked up 2-10oz filets yesterday and we grilled them last night. Fantastic.

I'm finally catching up here. Bam and I went out to Rare Cuts Saturday and met David. What a great young man. If you need another reason to go out there, they have complimentary Bloody Marys on Saturdays. Good New Orleans boy!

Bam and I picked up some foie gras and dry aged NY Strips for last nights dinner. Excellent. I couldn't stop eating the steak, I didn't want to, it was so good.

I also picked up some Thai sausage he had in the cooler for tomorrows dinner.

The steak counter had a ton to choose from: lamb, veal, pork, beef. Everything looked amazing and it was so hard to chose what I wanted. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Also: if driving out to Harahan isn't your cup of tea, David will pack up your order and deliver it to you. Another also: if you don't see what you want in the case, don't fret, he most likely has it just not on display.

Did he pack your purchase in one of those cooler bags with ice packs?

Also, as you saw, he now has hanger steaks and flanks. I can't wait to try them. Probably this week.

Sausage with a label that said 'Thai Sausage.' If you want I can tell you more about it after Tuesday's dinner. I really have no idea except it sounded like a good meat portion for the noodles I have planned so we got it.

David packed the red Rare Cuts bag with our goodies and several ice packs because he knew we were heading to Nor Joe's and some other places before going home. He's extremely nice and helpful.

The hanger steaks looked great. As did the cowboy ribeyes...as did EVERYTHING! Thanks EAC for the heads up on this place. After one visit, I'm hooked.

Yes, thanks. I like pretty much anything Thai, and I've never heard of that. :thumb:
