Couldn't get a reservation at Bacco, so I am taking JAG to the Applebee's White Truffle dinner tomorrow. 1 App, 2 Entrees and 1 dessert for $20. Glass of Yellow Tail is complimentary. Chris Berman is hawking it right now.

Unfortunately, Berman is working from old info. The $20 special now only includes the app and entrees. It's up to you to come up with the Jedi mind trick to make JAG think she's at Rio Mar.

Can't we stick with the Italian theme of the truffle dinner and see if Olive Garden is doing one? I can sweet talk the chef. I mean, I bought a new dress and everything.
I'm pretty sure Piety will get mad if I tell you about Bam's Jedi mind tricks on this forum....

Rumor has it, the white truffle smells like Tom's wife. I'll let you know after dinner tonight....

Bam and I went to Bacco last night and got the last truffle dinner of the season. They saved it for us and turned down everyone around us all night long. Bam thought I was pretty awesome...he's right
I don't have much time right now, but dinner was very good and a lot of fun. I'll elaborate later when my boss stops beating me.

Since the boss is finally allowing me a lunch break, I can fill you in on more details of the dinner.
Bam and I got there about an hour early for our reservation. My man was hungry so I had to make sure he was taken care of. They kindly sat us in the quieter room so we could have a nice dinner.
Our waiter, Joe, had three tables. Poor guy can handle only one at a time and fortunately for us, the other two tables left shortly after we sat down. Until they left we had about no service...waited forever for our first drink, no bread, no wine list...no 'specials'....nothing. But soon as the 'needy' couple left then the other group we had much better service. Not as good as Sean, the other waiter in the room, but better.
Anyway, we started with a glass of Prosecco. I had the egg, Bam had the soup. Mine was better

For Entrees Bam had the osso buco and I had the fettuccini. When the Sous Chef came out with the white truffles he told us they were the last of them, and all ours. Thankfully I mentioned that we wanted the truffle dinner when I made the reservation because they held those last truffles for us. Both entrees were wonderful. Bam pretended not to notice every time I stuck my fork into his entree. YUM! With the entrees we had a bottle of a Sicilian red wine, Sigreto or something like that...Bam ordered, maybe he knows.
We both had the cheesecake for dessert and a glass of Port. It was a nice ending to the meal but the cheesecake wasn't that exciting. The Jedi Mind Tricks for dessert were much more interesting.

Pas Bon wrote: Domenica Sunday night. I have to say, I'm probably in the minority when I say I prefer Domenica to a Mano. Started with the mushroom pizza and the octopus carpaccio. Both of these were wicked good. We then shared the spinach and ricotta gnocchi and the goat braciole. Both winners. At $109 pre-tip (with a bottle of Valpolicella), a freakin' bargain.
Planning to go here soon. I love Valpolicella, hadn't seen it on a wine list lately. Thanks!
