Too late to plant it in the ground, yes. The optimum time to plant citrus south of the lake is February. If you find a tree, replant it into a larger pot and keep it well watered through the long hot summer. Next Feb, put it in the ground. It will do just fine in a pot (I have a potted varigated lemon that bears fruit reliably).

I assume being North of the lake doesn't change this?

Here in Vancouver for a spell. You may have noted I said that there are so many Asian restaurants in Vancouver that the prices are phenominal.
Asian Dinner Special (Pick 3 Items) - I had:
Tom Yum Soup (big bowl)
Beef Teri (Reasonable sized order)
Vegi Tempura (4 pieces)
$9.95 CAD - Sake Maki Japanese Restaurant, Commercial Drive, Vancouver
The soup was great, spicy and hot, but the hot subsided fairly shortly.

That sounds like a great meal, Art. I fed my addiction today again with a large Tom Yum to go. Delicious.
