Thanks again for the replies. We dined this past Sunday around 11:00 and very much enjoyed the experience.
My wife and I were with another couple who were celebrating their 10 year anniversary in the city and besides not having power at the Ritz for most of their stay, they really enjoyed things. Commanders was where they had gotten engaged and had their re-hearsal dinner, so it was special for them going back there.
The atmosphere in the garden room really set the meal off for us. Things were not stuffy at all and between the huge windows we were seated next to, the balloons on all of the tables, the great jazz trio, and the bloody marys, it was hard to imagine and better setting.
I had the crab and corn bisque/soup, which had some big pieces of crab in it and was excellent. That was followed by the barb-que shrimp over grits, which I will give a B. It was good, but I have had better versions of this dish. The bread pudding souffle that I finished with might have been the best dessert I have ever had. It was unreal.
I did taste a few other things at the table that stood out including the shrimp and tasso henican and the oyster dome.
We had three very capable people taking care of the table and other than them getting a little hard to find at the very end, the service was excellent.
