I think Dragos thinks way to highly of their chargrilled oysters. It has really gone up over the last few years. We now make them at home. Although Grilliots has/had them 1/2 price on Tues/Thursdays. Not sure it they still do.

Had lunch at K-Paul's. Husband had the very flavorful fried shrimp on a pistolette with waffle "fries" ( turned out to be chips). I had a cup of excellent chicken andoulle gumbo and the fried bacon wrapped oysters en brouchette w/ meuniere and seafood rice. This came w/ a side salad. Bleu cheese dressing was not good. Oysters tasted fishy, meuniere was some sort of congealed glop that tasted as bad a it looked. Rice was no better. $36 w/ 2 teas.

Ouch! that is a tough review.
I have never had anything but outstanding food from K-Paul's. I have the utmost respect for Paul and he has an unbelievable ability to blend seasonings. I am truly surprised you had a bad experience.

Oh my! So very sorry to hear that, especially after I gave Chef P props...
I'm stunned!
Now let's find out who started this thread and give them a good scolding!

We had three plates, pistolette, gumbo, and fried oysters w/ rice/ side salad. As stated previously, the first two were excellent, the third was awful. "2 out of 3 ain't bad"'. We have been in love with Paul's food since he opened. Every meal was stellar, always worth waiting in line. Nowadays, not even close. I doubt that third plate would have come from his kitchen. The reins have been handed over and it shows. Mrs. Fury, Complaining to rest. is something I don't do. I prefer to vote with my feet.
