Call me crazy, but I've never really been a big fan of the King Cake...not even as a kid, but I do like one particular kind and this is probably where you will all call me crazy, but I like the Tastee Donuts King Cake....it's basically a glazed donut shaped like a King Cake with the purple, green, and gold sprinkles. I like glazed donuts, so it's no surprise I like this King Cake. The Tastee on Clearview and W. Metairie(across from the Krispy Kreme) still sells them and I usually pick 1 up around Mardi Gras.

Maybe we should each buy our favorite and do a blind king cake tasting at your facility...and you supply the coffee. :D

La Boulangerie's French used to be a favorite. Last week's was disappointing with very little almond paste. Tried Rouse's plain and cream cheese. Much prefered the plain, lots of layers/ cinnamon.

Yeah, that is Dianne Randazzo.
Manny bought her out of the business for $800K, then she turns right around and opens her own place using his last name. :) I wonder if his lawyers just forgot to put a non-compete clause in the paperwork during the buyout of if she wouldn't accept one.

I never understood how King Cake morphed into cinnamon coffee cake with goo like filling:eek: and tasteless white alien icing.

I liked the plain Mckenzie's brioche with the granulated/fine colored sugar.

Tastee donuts donut like king cake, which they have at the Tastee on the corner of Transcontinental and W Esplanade.

The now closed La Spiga bakery had a great Queen's cake, with a light almond taste and edible flowers, it was really good.

My dad got one from Dong Phoung Vietnamese bakery, it has cinnamon, but it's very light, my son liked it....and my mom said the baby looks like it's 6 months old...it's huge....AHHAAA

:) The lady that makes those is a friend of my daughter's. They are outstanding, that's for sure.

Me too, Justa. Never was a fan of the dry bread topped with gritty colored sugar.

I saw her ad in the paper, and it said she was in River Ridge.

BTW, I don't blame her one bit....he had the mistress working in the store with her, in front of her face.
