Best New Orleans Steakhouse
Re: Best New Orleans Steakhouse
The Fulton St thing is an embarrassment. Don't waste your time going as it will take away all of your Christmas spirit when your experience it's sorriness.

I always thought Dickie Brennans was pretty good.

Jesse and Mrs Fury...you clearly aren't drinking enough at dinner before hitting Fulton Street!

Re: Best New Orleans Steakhouse
You rite Roux. I can't drink cuz I gotta drive 32 miles to my house from work a block from Fulton. Drinking would help the Fulton experience. I shoulda gone two weeks ago when I was in Jag's hands for the evening.RouxTheDay wrote:Jesse and Mrs Fury...you clearly aren't drinking enough at dinner before hitting Fulton Street!
I like kids. They taste like chicken.

I've thinking about trying Ruth's for the $39 Steak and Lobster. Was wondering if it may be better to try U.S. Prime. I pass that place and wonder if worth the stop. Anyone tried it?
Re: Best New Orleans Steakhouse
I've been unimpressed with Morton's, Delmonico and Ruth's Chris. I am quite picky when it comes to steak. It must be USDA prime ribeye, med rare with a nice crusty char. My preference was Smith and Wollensky, who did a nice job with their dry aged prime. Now I pick up some prime at Robert's (I prefer theirs to both Dorignac's and Langenstein's) and cook it myself. Should you ever be in an area with an outpost of Striphouse, go.

The Strip House in Houston is one of the better steaks I've had here. However, I have heard great things about the new Del Frisco's that opened in the Galleria.
Thanks to all who have chimed in. Of course, as it turned out, during my trip back to the city we didn't ever make it to any of these places. Thank goodness there's always a next time.
I am working on a writeup of the places we did go to and will post it soon (or at least as soon as work permits...)

I had one of the top 3 steaks ever at Nick & Sam's in Dallas. The steak was a bone-in prime chateaubriand, cooked rare.
