I have been to this casual place 2-3 times in the past few months since it's close to home. I have enjoyed the food each time. The portions are not huge. It is not cheap nor outrageously expensive. So if you're famished and really need that over-stuffed shrimp po-boy, this place won't do at all. The soups have been very good - tomato & basil yesterday, split pea, white bean, cucumber on other occasions. There is a tres Uptown, ladies-who-lunch vibe that will be off-putting to some. There are some nice wines. The paninis are great - very good bread, top-notch ingredients. Yesterday I had the Milano with soprasseta salami (sp?), tomatoes, lettuce and fontina cheese. They also have a very limited breakfast menu with coffees, muffins, lox and H&H bagels. Your food is brought fairly promptly, but you're pretty much on your own afterwards if you need someting. It is sort of catty-corner from Charlie's Steak House.

I guess they've been there since 2007, but we went there yesterday for the first time on the advice of a business associate who says he's related to the owner. Mostly as described above, a nice little place for a good bagel and a huge cup of coffee on a Sunday morning. And, yes, no po-boys nor grilled chicken Caesar salads here-- don't even ask. Yesterday was a win-win, though: a new spot for breakfast, and a parking spot at the Zoo in the first row in front of the entrance at 10:30 on Earth Fest Sunday*.

* I don't know what "Ronald McDonald & Louisiana Kids" is, but there was a female vocalist with them that could flat-out sing anything.

I love the place! Madison grew up in this neighborhood, spent some time in NYC and brought something special back to Dryades Street. I applaud her and her efforts.
