Back in New Orleans for good-first meal back.

Post by Jesse »

I pulled in to town this afternoon to the in laws house, and after about an hour we headed to New Orleans Food & Spirits in Covington.

Started off with a very cold Abita Amber served in an ice cold glass (it froze the beer as it was poured in). As an appetizer we had the VooDoo Crawfish rolls, which were pretty good. The cheese & crawfish went pretty well together, surprisingly.

We all ordered their three course deal for $16.99. It came with a salad (just OK) and a soup (either a crawfish/corn bisque or a gumbo). All of us got the bisque, which was excellent. I had the fried seafood sampler, which was shrimp, oysters and catfish. It was a ton of food, more oysters and shrimp that catfish which I certainly appreciated and all of it was delicious and perfectly fried. The oysters were especially good. My wife had the crab cakes, which was served with a crawfish pasta and she loved all of it. FIL had the Catfish Pontchartrain, which was fried catfish served with a crawfish stew. He also enjoyed it very much.

All in all it was a great first meal back. It's good to be home.
