My favorite horseradish is Beaver Brand Extra Hot. The late Zeke Unangst used it when he was operating Zeke's Restaurant in Metairie. Available at Walmart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10535267

The Beaver Brand Mustards are excellent as well!

For raw, I usually wait until Casamento's opens. Their website says they were to re-open on Sept. 16th. Has anyone noticed if they are open?

Just called - they are, indeed, open.

Art, will try to keep you updated to what is going on around here. Things are looking good so far. There is a Seafood Festival this weekend on Fulton St., next to Grand Isle Restaurant and Harrah's. Drago's is planning to do Char-broiled oysters, so this should provide a look into what is going on. Of course, just being 2 blocks from La Boca and Rio Mar, I may have to mosey on down there to grab a bite too!

Sorry for earlier rant! Guess I thought you had "tied me to the Whippin Post" when I saw this thingy::whip:

YOU are the man, posting all those great pictures on the forum and keeping discussion topics rolling along!

PLEASE...Keep it up!

I've been a fan of the Acme camera, because it's the one pair of eyes I've had in New Orleans. When power was restored after Katrina, for the weeks afterward, it showed the chairs up on the tables, and the neon lights still working. What this really showed me was that New Orleans was "still there". It was broken and hurting, but it was not gone, no matter what the drive by press was reporting. Though I do not live there (yet), I have positive feelings for those of you who do.

So keep putting out your "word". I'll be listening.
Schuarta, you made me cry!

Thank you for your strength from afar, we all need that support of our city.
Sometimes it gets tough for us, but we keep going.
I do hope you get to experience life in New Orleans again very soon!

Oyster said it well, and thanks again for your big love of New Orleans!

BTW, Sakura Sushi & Seafood on Manhattan did not have oysters today.
