Stopped at Bourbon House for oysters then three of us headed to Wolfe's Thursday evening. We were the only diners around 7ish. We sat at the lone table in the bar. We ordered 2 apps. from the regular menu to round out our selections of small plates.
The 2 apps. from the dinner menu:
Jumbo lump served on thinly sliced roasted beets. I really liked this, son thought it was ok, husband didn't care for it.
Duck sausage and foie gras. Sausage was very flavorful.
Small plates:
short ribs(2 orders). All thought it was excellent. Tender, rich flavor, nice sauce.
buffalo shrimp with cucumber slaw. Large shrimp cooked as the name states. Slaw was a refreshing foil.
potato crisps. Really good, like Zapps hot out of the fryer.
charcuterie plate. This changes. Our offering was a PLT (proscuitto, lettuce, tomato) on toasted baguette slices. A definite loser.
Fish taco. Another loser. Fish was breaded and combined with the melted cheese, gummy and tasteless.
I tried a Redemption Cocktail (bartender's creation). A strange combo of flamed chartreuse, strawberry vodka, basil and another herb with a sprinkling of white pepper. Contrary to the way it sounds, it was not sweet and quite good.
We were still the only patrons when we left. I like Wolfe's food and have enjoyed Wolfe's in the Warehouse as well. Unfortunately, this place was also nearly dinerless when we were there.
