Phil's in Mandeville

Post by Turbodog »

I went to Phil's on Hwy 22 for lunch today. I saw New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company had also opened (in the old Caffe Caffe location). they were out of many bun options and some cheese options. I was talked into a special by the waitress. It was a hot sausage meatloaf with provolone cheese and sauteed onion and peppers. It had a sun dried tomatoe pesto spread and was on ciabatta bun.

It was pretty good, but did not have the "texture" of a buger. There was little contrast bewtween the bun and the "burger". The taste was ok however.

I would have preferred to build my own burger, whcih I will do next time, and I will withhold my overall opinion until then.

I should add that they were out of all of the high grade burgers (or whatever they call the bison,. tuna, etc.). Why were they out of so many things?
