Re: JAGs crash potato
:rolleyes:I am planning on making these potatoe babies tonight, after hearing so many rave reviews and due to the fact that I have all the ingredients. One question though, I am serving them with my Rosemary/garlic Rotisserie Chicken. Should I use rosemary in the potatoes, or use another herb I have in my garden? Possibilities are: fresh chives, green onions, basil, thyme or marjoram. I welcome everyones response.

Maybe it's just me, but I like a contrast. I'd try the thyme and some chives. That sounds to me like it would go well with the rosemary chicken.foodophyle wrote::rolleyes:I am planning on making these potatoe babies tonight, after hearing so many rave reviews and due to the fact that I have all the ingredients. Put whatever you like on them. They're really that good. I can't believe we hadn't come up with this one before. They're so simple and really pretty healthy...unless you do like I did and put a big dollop of sour cream on mine before I ate.

Personally, I'd be rosemaried out.....I would do them simple with salt, pepper, and some chives.......OKOKOK and some sour cream.

I tried the Crash Potatoes but I still like this recipe for simple roast potatoes, courtesy of Nigella Lawson:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/perfectroastpotatoes_84759.shtml
The recipe needs some tweaking, we sub butter and olive oil for the goose fat. The semolina trick is amazing, it gives the the potatoes a perfect, crispy brown crust.

Too late to respond, you are probably eathing right now, how did they come out, and which herb did you decide on. I also like the idea of tyme and chive with rosemary chicken. I could eat garlic rosemary rotisserie chicken right now, sounds good.

I used thyme and chives, mostly chives. They were great with and without a dollop of sour cream. I liked having a new way to cook the small red skin creamers and I will make them again.
FYI: I use the premade rosemary garlic spice mix from LaMadeliene and it is terrific on chicken. Its my families favorite way to eat roasted chicken, and so easy too. You do not need a rotisserie, just be sure to raise the chicken by using a rack or stand up holder in a pan to keep the bird out of the au jus/grease from the chicken.
