Has a bad NON food experience at a restaurant stopped you from dining there?

Post by Suzy Wong »

Has a really great memory/good times kept you going over the interest in the food?

The Lola topic brought this to mind, because the last time I went to Lola's, the company I was with REALLY turned me off, when it had nothing to do with the food.

You are telling me Suzy. I am finally over that night and then you show up on a food message board and continue to annoy the p-ss out of me.

Yes, there is a restaurant in town and I knew for a fact (not rumor, I knew the girl) that the owner of the restaurant has at least once beat up a woman.

Despite my loath for this slime, I agreed to go with a friend to the restaurant owned by "Punchy" only to sit down and see him by the kitchen door yelling at and cowering over the female manager. I got up and left at that point and the thought of the place turns my stomach, which is a shame because I hear the food is quite good.

There is a place I won't go to because the bigoted owner cold-cocked a friend of mine at a bar. This guy comes into my place to eat from time to time and I'm cordial. Very. Cordial. In a Very. Tight. Lipped. Way.

Definitely. There's one particular place I'll never step foot in again. I've been invited to dinner parties there and have always refused the invite. The owner is a schmuck and an asshole too.

I was at a coffee shop last week picking up some food and the whole feel of the place turned me off.
Several of the lights in the place were burnt out and a few others were dimly lit. The cook was walking around in circles muttering/talking to himself the whole time I waited for the annoying manager person to fix my club sandwhich.

Well, sweetheart, your preoccupation with Michael Bennett and Barry Manilow didn't help....Shouldn't you be buying online tickets for Pineapple Express for you and C-Note?

Thanks for the replies, I hadn;t thought about an owner or Manager being a problem, interesting and valid perspective. Jon Smith, that guy sounds like unfortunately the only big thing on him is the chip on his shoulder.

Absolutely. I've only lived where I currently do for less than two years and there are at least a half a dozen places on my "will never go there again" list.

Reasons? Let's see....the owner p*ssed me off with his obnoxious behavior toward his employees, servers/bartenders annoyed me for one reason or another, service was not up to my ridiculous standards, insect issues (in a very nice hotel bar....just freakin disgusting...), the bartender continually hit on me, I tend to misbehave when I go to one or two places that I had to ban myself from...the list goes on and on...
