Webster's Restaurant
Webster's Restaurant
Has anyone been to Webster's Restaurant on Clearview across from the shopping center. We were looking for a different place to have breakfast and saw their sign. Any opinions?
Re: Webster's Restaurant
Saw your question on another forum and wanted to answer, even though it's not what you're asking. I pass it almost every morning, that said I've never been. I may be being unfair, but it seems (looks) a little depressing (but of course that's just me:o and doesn't say anything about the food)
That said, 2 places with good brekfasts I really like are La Peniche, and Russell's Marina Grill on West End
8555 Pontchartrain Blvd.

La Peniche
1940 Dauphine (at Touro) in the Marigny

(They both have the standards, and specialty dishes)
from La Peniche (an example) Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Come by this morning and check out our special holiday drinks. Our great Brunch menu today includes a Caramel Pecan Waffle, the Big Easy Omelette, BBQ Shrimp w/ side salad, a Hot Damn Croissant, and Grillards and Cheese Grits.

Have not been in a few years, but the food was typical of a late night eatery (a la Denny's). But don't forget about Peppermill and City Diner for breakfast. Also, Zeke's used to have a pretty good breakfast as well.

Suzy, yes, I did ask on the other forum, but did not get any reply so thought I would try here. I think you are probably right about looking depressing, but wondered about the food. If it is like Denny's I don't think it is worth going. Thanks for the two suggestions, both sound good and worth a try.
Dilfan, I love the Peppermill so why change. What's the expression, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Thanks for the response.

Only ate there once many (maybe 6 or 7) years ago-- like you, looking for something different and gave it a try. Although the utensils were clean, the words "greasy spoon" did cross my mind. The breakfast was nothing special, but that's not to say it was bad.

Re: Webster's Restaurant
I thought that place wasn't even there anymore. I have never been but a doctor I worked with who had an insomnia problem would go there. She said it was definitely a greasy spoon but she could go there whenever she wanted.
Re: Webster's Restaurant
It's a neighborhood restaurant. Not great, but not a greasy spoon. Used to catch basic breakfast there all the time a couple of years ago when I lived in the area. Suzy - perhaps you can tell me the attraction of Russel's Marina? I used to live a couple of blocks away and tried it several times - average food at higher than average prices. Every time I go out to my boat, I see people waiting in a line on the parking lot. For breakfast, I'd take Webster's over Russel's every time.

Webster's is where all the divorcees go when they aren't successful at getting "hooked up" at The Bengal.

As others have mentioned, City Diner is great breakfast.
I saw your thread on the TF board about Charles Seafood. You screwed that one up pretty good with bad info, but you should have known not to pick on one of TF's pet places.
