Three pounds boiled for $1.00 at Franks!

I miss the old days!

Damn cold weather. I'm tired of it. It's screwing up the crawfish season!
On the flip side, I guess this means we'll have crawfish into June, correct?

$3.99/lb. Wednesday special at Seafood Pot, New Sarpy; $3.75/lb, 10 lbs. or more. Consistent, acceptable medium size, with only a few smalls in the mix. Reg. $4.50/lb. $2.89/lb. live.

$3.49 / lb. boiled at Village Inn. Eat in or take out.

Aside...

Two-inch cherrystone clams, for eating raw or for steaming, at $1.00 per hundred, bought from the clam-er as he came in for the day! Free if you were willing to take a half hour, a peach basket, an innertube, and walk around Barneget Bay at low tide (up to your waist) and pick them up with your feet.

Oh...wait...that was a flashback to my summer weekends back in 1950's...

I too miss the old days!

I got a sack at $2.75 a pound live from Dennis' in Metry yesterday. Still pricy, but should be coming down by this coming weekend with temps close to 70 every day this week. I've read that water temperature needs to hit 60 degrees to really get them moving.

It's been almost 2 months since this thread started so I figured I'd throw out this update.
I was invited to two crawfish boils this weekend but unfortunately I am out of town.
One is getting them for cost at $2.50/lb. live the other is paying $2.75/lb live.
The weather seems to be uncooperative as the lows will be dipping into the 40s the next few days. (I can't remember a colder spring than what we are having now.)
Anyway, I guess the good news is we will be having crawfish well into May.

I am boiling 40lbs. at my neighbor's house Sunday. The live price quoted on Monday was $2.75/lb.; however, it may vary slightly when I pick them up. It will be my first taste of boiled crawfish this year and I can't wait.

I'm not the greatest at math, but that's near $120 a sack. I do know for sure that's RIDICULOUS. After beer, seasoning, other stuff to add in the pot, you've spent $200 to feed 6-8 people crawfish. Get some shrimp in Westwego, much more meat to the pound. I can't force myself to pay the high prices out there right now.

Yep, but since I'm not paying for anything (just my labor ad expertise) it works great for me.

YMMV
