Saki Sushi on Williams?

Post by sbu22 »

Anyone tried them? Opened fairly recently in the former Tecoro's space. Thanks a lot.

This place has the same name as the restaurant that opened 3 blocks further towards I-10 in the location of the pre-K Little Tokyo sushi buffet (3200 blk Williams). I haven't driven past it to see if it is in fact the same place, only moved down the street. I can say that I went to that location shortly after it opened and found that the sushi was pretty good, but the service was confused. I planned on giving them another try since this is pretty close to the house, but then I heard the same report months later (good food, shaky service), so I put it off. I'll post if I find out more and/or visit the place in the Tecoro location (3500 blk Williams).

Where did TeCoRo go? Anyway, we had a nice lunch or 2 at the Sake Sushi place at the other location. I recommended it and Globe9 (I believe) had a terrible experience. So I don't know what to say but we liked the rolls and loved the cucumber salad which was on the house as a "try me" kinda thing by the chef.
I like kids. They taste like chicken.

I think TeCoRo went the way of, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to open a restaurant?"

TeCoRo closed before Pellicano did. That was a while ago.

I got this all wrong in the intro. If you google 3525 Williams (the former TeCoRo location) it comes back with "Saki Sushi". However, the spot is occupied by "Tokyo", that turns out to be a sushi/hibachi place. I generally turn around to leave when I see the hibachi part, but we went in anyway.

The hibachi side was full of yahoos celebrating something, and the sushi bar was in that part of the place, so we took a booth. Had a nice gyoza app - generous portion and the sauce was unusual but excellent. CKD was in the mood for "rolls", so we had one salmon & ........ and another tuna and ....... Both generous portions, very fresh and good. I also had an eel handroll - large and excellent. Didn't get any nigiri or sashimi, so don't know, but it looked good.

They've been open about 2 weeks. Looks like they have a little way to go to be fully operational. The owner was very much in evidence, the waitress we had was a gem, and the service was great. Pricing is comparable to Kyoto II or Kanno, but Tokyo isn't there yet. We're going to go back in a couple of weeks and see how things are sorting out.

Definitely worth a shot if you're in the area.
