Sometimes, you just get a gut feeling about wine displayed on an end cap. First was, "Why is there a 2002 red here?" Second was the blend breakdown: 63% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc. The last one caught my eye, as many California blenders just go for Syrah to round out the Cab/Merlot blend, but this Oregon one chose (more appropriately) Cab Franc instead. Noteworthy.
Anyway, the upshot is this: Serve it at 68°, and splash decant it (but watch out for the sediment). You'll think you're drinking a $25 Alexander Valley Cab, but instead, you'll be drinking an Oregon red Bordeaux blend for $8 from Dorignac's.
