Huevos Schuarta

Post by Schuarta »

My days as an unintentional bachelor continue. Bored. Felt the need to be creative today. So for brunch:

*fried some bacon,
*sauted some pea pods with thinly sliced torpedo onions in bacon drippings,
*fried 3 eggs in bacon drippings,
*assembled with heated left-over pasta sauce,
*add a side of cheese grits,

and WA-LA!

Yummy, honey...............BUT..........

You're kinda overdoing it with THREE EGGS on top of the bacon.

If you were MINE, I'd cut you down to a couple eggs, and make you give me backrubs and stuff. :p

Bacon goes round the plate, but not under the eggs. I only average one package of bacon a month.

I use the insanely wonderful Oscar Meyer turkey bacon which is so good, it's surpassing bacon as my favorite meat. I never thought THAT was possible.
Now this is more like it.

Good idea. I'll give it a try.

Let us know what you think. I never expected to like turkey bacon, but I do!

I also use smoked turkey sausage for my red beans. Tasted great! And the turkey Italian sausage is also excellent. I'm going to turn into a turkey soon.

Unless the turkey sausage is made from the leanest turkey breast it offers little to no health benefit and certainly doesn't taste as good a pork/beef sausage.

I've tried several turkey bacons and none of them hold a candle to the real deal. They seem to be mostly processed turkey, press to shape, with sodium and other additives to allow it to fry crispy. My current favorite is Richards Hickory Smoked REAL BACON.

Of course, all this is IMHO and YMMV.

The turkey bacon/sausage may have less fat than the pork bacon...Maybe that's why they choose it?....

Although with both choices one is still probably getting their daily dose of antibiotics and steroids.....

For not being "bacon" Morning Star soy bacon actually tastes close IMO....

3 is benefit of temp bachelorhood. 2 is limit when SO is around. :o

Also SO fries only her whites, and the yolks go in the trash.

Also, at 115 pounds, she is the one with 300 cholesterol (before Lipitor). I take meds to raise my (good) cholesterol which my doc says it too low. My total runs around 165.
