1) Rio Mar--JAG and I had a few tapas at the bar on Thursday night with Missy. The special was clams in a tomato broth with chorizo and corn. I loved it. JAG hated it. We had a special salad of tomatoes and a pistachio encrusted bleu cheese that we both enjoyed and then followed that up with JAG's favorite the grilled Octopus. I wouldn't order the octopus again as I have an aversion to putting long tubular things in my mouth.
2) K-Paul's Lunch Friday. I took a friend of mine who had never eaten at K-Paul's before for lunch. He isn't the most adventuresome diner but he's willing to let me take the lead and generally enjoys most places we go. He ordered the shrimp po boy with potato salad and called it "the best f-ing sandwich I have ever eaten." I had the crawfish enchilada, I thought this was pretty good but it did seem to have a little bit of a boxed taco mix taste to it.
3) J'Anita's at the Avenue Pub. Late Night Drunkfest Friday. After consuming massive quantities of alcohol with my protege and a few of my buddies at the Bulldog and Mick's Irish Pub, I bolted for the Avenue Pub. I have to admit that when I heard J'Anita's was moving in here, I was like WTF?. But the place really isn't the decrepit dive that I remember. It is totally cleaned up with a great, diverse beer selection. One of the things I love is that the food is totally designed to pair with the beer. I was consuming the NOLA Brown Ale and f-ing starving. So I ordered the St. Chuck Duck, which is essentially a duck reuben. I was pretty drunk so I am not sure if that description does it justice but good God is that sandwich good. I almost wanted to order two of them. The potato salad was very good as well.
4) Huevos Breakfast--Sunday. Due to the vagaries of criminal defense law, I had to surrender my client at Tulane and Broad this morning at the ungodly hour of 8 am. (Don't ask but it is far easier to do it this way than on a weekday.) He was in and out in about 4 and 1/2 hours and we hit Huevos for a get out of jail, there's two justice systems: one for the rich and one for the poor breakfast. I had the Huevos Con Tamale. This is really the best breakfast food item currently available in the United States. I have been on the can continuously but well worth the price. The accused had the veggie omelet with the second best grits in town. He enjoyed the food and his freedom immensely and was happy that the words ROR are a large part of my vocabulary.

JAG doesn't hate anything Chef Adolpho does....I just wasn't into the dish that night. I wanted octopus. I did love that salad though. The tomatoes were good and I just love good peppery arugula.
The St Chuck Duck is awesome and the only think I've ordered at this J'anitas since they put it on the menu. Well that and on occasion, Budda's Tempation which is apricots stuffed with blue cheese, wrapped in bacon and deep fried. Don't tell my cardiologist I eat this. Or my personal trainer.
My regular Sunday morning breakfast companions were at Heuvos Sunday morning as well. They enjoyed it from what I heard. I was a zombie at this point after getting close to no sleep the night before, so I opted out of going.
If I can add one more...Last night I went to Sushi Brothers for dinner. It's redundant for me to add this since everything was perfect, fresh, and great. Service was good too. This place makes me happy.
Oh, and a meatball poboy at Parasol's while watching LSU kick ass and getting my drunk on Friday afternoon. If Tim's in the kitchen there, everything is spot on.

We were heading to La Boca for dessert after Rio Mar but just went home instead. You still want details?

I'd like some details. I can't remember anything after you slipped that roofie in my drink.
