Ordered some steaks from Alder Spring Ranch and from Lobel's for delivery next week. Ordered some other beef cuts from Alder Spring too. My Sweetie and I are both away from home at the moment, and I will be home without her next week. The steaks are to keep me occupied until I see her next. From Alder Spring Ranch, I ordered ribeyes, NY strips, filets, blade steaks, hanger steak.

From Lobel's, I ordered American Wagyu porterhouses, natural prime porterhouses, USDA prime porterhouses. My Sweetie loves porterhouse steaks.

Has anyone else tried meat from either of these companies? If so, what do you think of their stuff?

Tried all of the meats that we received from Alder Spring and Lobel's. Cannot really recommend of it very highly. All of the meat was good, but not great. The filet side of the Lobel's American Wagyu Porterhouse was the best of the bunch. I have had too many good meats from different places around the world that were grown only on wild grown food and not feed I guess. Cooked everything mid rare with just salt and black pepper on the grill.

Allen Brothers and Buckhead Beef are the best purveyors of potioned beef, IMO.
Re: Steak and stuff
I sent my dad some strip steaks from Lobels. He lives in Jersey and only purchases USDA prime beef. His steaks arrived and had next to no marbling. He cooked one and said it was awful. I told him to call Lobels. He did. They replaced them free of charge with significantly more marbled, better tasting steaks. Still, he felt these were no better than what he usually purchases at his local meat wholesaler. FWIW, Peter Luger will ship.

I'll second Allen Bros. And, aside from steaks, their all beef hot dogs are wonderful.
Re: Steak and stuff
So, i got a nice 10 oz today. NBA playoffs and grilled beef (and red wine, of course). Some shrooms and stuffed potatoe and i'm good.

Peter Luger's is the most fun dining experience in the US.

Back from Vancouver a week today. Wife staying with daughter indefinately until she is off workers comp.
Raley's (part of Raley's/Belair/Nob Hill group) had a sale today on whole "tenderloins" at about half price. Spent $54.00 for an 8-pounder. Cut it into 12 filets. Wraped eleven. Had the first one tonight. Delicious!
