We went riding around today, even though it was supposed to be dreary. We managed to find the sunshine. We were going to check out Gainsville but since we were both packing heat we decided to turn around before the Stennis checkpoint. OK, as someone uninitiated, I have to ask...What's the deal with all the cemetery encounters? Genealogy? Necrophilia? Quiet spot for target practice?

Cemeteries are interesting and every so often you find a relative. Necrophilia? What kind of sick puppy are you?

A lot of times the little cemeteries we find tucked away in the piney woods are all that remain of former townsites. We enjoy finding them and researching the history. Someday a book or two might be in the offing.

Not a sick puppy myself (although I do work with quite a few), just always interested when people have unconventional hobbies or collections. All of my cemetery roaming has been genealogy-based. We went to some really intersting ones in England when we were there in '07. We found a number of old relatives' sites out in Essex. We made another trip to find my wife's relatives up in Wisconsin. The cemetery outings weren't too successful, but the beer was great.
