I Love "Crossroads"

Post by Low-N-Slow »

"Crossroads" is a CMT series that pairs pop and country acts on the same stage, and the result is often magical. Higher profile editions have included Bon Jovi/Sugarland, and the Alison Krauss/Robert Plant episode that gave us a live, intimate version of the Grammy-winning "Raising Sand" album. But it's sometimes the unexpected pairings that prove most interesting. I thought Taylor Swift/Def Leppard sounded lame, until I watched it. Bonnie Raitt/Lyle Lovett was especially satisfying, particularly when they did the show-stopper "Angel From Montgomery". Tonight's pairing of Jason Aldean and 80s pop phenom Bryan Adams also contained such a "moment". Adams suggested that Aldean take the lead on Adams' hit "Heaven" as an acoustic-only effort, with Adams supplying only sparse-but-essential harmonies. The result: absolutely stunning.
