Baton Rouge Galatoire's moving?

Catching up on the news after a week in Maine/Quebec and my brother in BR tells me that the Galatoire's Bistro there is moving to the Towne Center development at Corporate/Old Hammond where the Champs sports bar used to be. Can anyone confirm this? Couldn't find anything online in my brief search. A...

smores deconstructed

OK this is what I thought of when I saw this video title - I was getting a bit verklemmt with the thought of sending little Muffin off to Camp Affluenza in Vermont without a personal chef when I discovered that her "life coach" Meaghan is earning stripes as a pastry chef at night while she...

Does Ramsey also extend his services to turning around radio shows? Now that would be entertaining!!

Re: Greece

Can't help you much since I haven't been in a long time either. But unless things have changed drastically, I'd skip Athens entirely and head straight to the islands. If you've never been to Greece, then I'd amend that to, see the Acropolis, then head straight to the islands. Mind you, I took five y...

Re: Dining in Spain and France

I got to France a few days ago. Have been in Biarritz in Southern part for a couple of days. Also up in small villages in the Pyranese. Made it to Pamplona for the Fiesta de San Fermin (running of the bulls) on Sunday just in time for the bullfights, then to see the Spanish win the world cup. An am...

Re: NOLA weekend trip report - 1940

I wouldn't put anything past Huey. Lots of folks wondered if the hotel was where Huey's "deduct box" was hidden, but it has never been found. Mom said they used to "wash the money" every night at the hotel. I am sure there has been lots of money laundering conducted there over th...

Re: NOLA weekend trip report - 1940

Well it makes you appreciate the days when people could not only write letters, but with many interesting details. Who will be able to find our e-mails when we're gone...or want to read them? People in my family always wrote lots of letters. Since I am one of the history buffs in the family my aunts...

Re: Domenica for a birthday?

A fun time was had by all. Chef sent out some comp. fried squash blossoms w/ goat cheese to start us off. Very nice touch for a really tasty starter. Then on to the Affetati Misti for the table - very good - loved the prosciutto, salami and duck prosciutto and the cheeses. Small plates followed: str...

NOLA weekend trip report - 1940

Last night's visit to the Roosevelt reminded me about something I read not long ago and I thought I would share this with those of you who have a passion for history. I was going through some of my Dad’s correspondence that my mother gave me after his death and found the following letter dated April...
