Re: Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet
That's about as bad as those ads touting high fructose corn syrup as a health food.

Oooooh, we always went to Odyssey when it was in Lakeview. We loved it and followed it to Metairie Rd. I'm sorry it's gone. The original location is now Dixie Chicken and Ribs.

Re: Mat and Naddie's Buffet Lunch
Thanks for the info. I found Mat and Naddie's pricey for dinner, but I loved the atmosphere (even the loud trains rolling by). I will definitely try this for lunch.

Re: Which Ain't Dere No More Place Do You Miss?
Jerry, thanks for the pics! I wish they would do something with the building (a restaurant preferably) so we could enjoy that view again. The shot of the front room of the restaurant is pretty heart wrenching. I guess it's more poignant that it's a part of my childhood gone. Jeeves, my wife and I lo...

Which Ain't Dere No More Place Do You Miss?
I was thinking about Katrina restaurant casualties the other day. Specifically, I was thinking about Hong Kong, a Cantonese restaurant on Lakeshore Drive. Hong Kong was a typical dimly lit, paper lantern, little umbrella-in-your drink Chinese restaurant. My parents had been going there since I was a...

Re: What'd ya get for Christmas in the food/wine genre?
One of my co-workers gave me something I never heard of but I have to try it. It's oreos ground to dust, mixed with cream cheese and then dipped in chocolate. This is one of those for-people-who-can't-really-cook desserts that anyone can make. I've heard them called Oreo Truffles (fancy right?), an...

A Martin Wine Cellar gift card (from a student), a Zea's gift card (from a student), some Starbuck's gift cards (from a student), an Acropolis gift card (from my brother), a Ralph's/Bacco/Redfish Grill gift card ($100 from wife's aunt--woo-hoo!), and various homemade goodies (from students).

Re: Gift Certificate Decision!
Yeah, I wasn't very impressed the last couple of times I was there. Fairly pricey for the quality. I love the space and the view of the Park from the window (especially with the Christmas lights) is beautiful.
I'll probably do Bacco.

Gift Certificate Decision!
We received a nice gift Brennan family gift certificate which gives us the option of dining at Ralph's on the Park, Redfish Grill, or Bacco. I've been to Ralph's several times, Bacco maybe once, and Redfish Grill not at all. Which would you choose?
