Re: The Closer
I caught Burn Notice for the first time a few months ago when the network was doing one of it's marathons on the weekend... I was HOOKED. I really like the Closer too. Unfortunately, I usually miss all these good shows. I'm not sure why... I guess I just don't watch a lot of tv, yet I'm always compl...

Re: J'Anita's at The Avenue Pub----Holy Sh**
bam, I've always loved your on-the-scene synopsis of the food you're eating. Hilarious. :) Tom and I have yet to make it to J'Anita's on the Avenue, unfortunately, but it sounds like you've had a wonderful opportunity to branch out. Craig and Kimmie, you have great imaginations, and I love reading t...

Re: City Diner
LOL Jerry.... Getting into the parking lot really is a challenge. Get on the service road, and as SOON as you see LaQuinta, turn in!! Park... Then look around and there it is. Jason, if you go full service with the liquor license, please please please don't turn the place into a bar with bar food. :...

Re: Specials At Parkway Bakery
JRO, I'm a big fan of their seafood poboys... shrimp and oyster. They used to have a fried oyster-wrapped-in-bacon poboy, but I think that's off the menu postK. I never got to try it.
That's a good thing, though.

Re: La Boca
LOL what a hoot. bambam, this was a great review, as usual. I think the best part of going to LaBoca is the company I've kept there. :) I love the gnocchi and the asparagus - I've even done a really good job recreating it. But nothing can compare to their steaks, (and btw, one time with expat I got ...
Re: Muriel's
I have mixed feelings about this place. Although last Christmas we went to the wine and food party at Christmas in the Oaks, and the Muriel's offering of shrimp and eggplant was by FAR the very best thing to be had, and that's saying a LOT. Wait... the guy who makes those praline cannoli's for the c...

Re: City Diner
I had a delightful lunch today, (I really miss my lunches on Monday and City Diner!!) with old friends and new. The menu has expanded a bit, and there were some interesting choices. I would have loved to try the corn and crab bisque, which was the soup of the day. It was too hot of day though. LOL, ...

Re: Panini or Po'boy?
Hungryone, DITTO!! Binder's is my favorite, but unless I'm willing to get to Dorignac's during delivery, forget it. And can I tell you how often that happens? I still buy Leidenhiemer's - it's just a tiny bit different than it used to be. I like panini's a lot, and depending on where I am, I get the...

The Soup Nazi
Today after work, I caught the Seinfeld of the same name... and it occurred to me..... how many of us 'foodaphiles' really REALLY wanted the rest of that recipe? And all the other recipes.....
I think it's probably the true test of a lover of food.... to wish to see those papers!
