Re: Teaching kids to beg

My kids will not be allowed to do this. Period. We will provide the money necessary for their activities or they will earn it. And I don't like them earning it by selling junk that people don't want. (You know, your co-workers all come to work with brochures of wrapping paper and useless gifts, or t...

Re: Where's Creighton?

I'm guessing he's gone/jumped. A friend pointed out the significance of "The Awakening" book discussion in his class - and the ending of that book. I've not read the book so I didn't make the connection. It adds to the speculation, and adds something more to the theory of suicide. I don't ...

Re: Gusto

I've been to a movie theater/restaurant dinner theater. It worked better than I expected. The waiters were very inconspicuous. You placed your order before the movie started. It was delivered after the movie was under way. There was a counter-like table in front of each row of seats with small light...

Re: Rare Cuts

I can never get past the "eat on bread while I'm cooking" phase of fois gras. I've never actually prepared it, just devoured while standing in the kitchen cooking the rest of our meal. I'm a pig.

One day I'll need to actually try searing.

Out of reach is pointless. I can climb, and from the sounds of it, I would for that.

I also could not have resisted touching the two desserts. I have no willpower.

Re: The TF Board

Didn't know you had a stalker, but I have searched out your blog/site more than once in search of the mojito recipe you posted long ago, and the blue cheese butter sauce for steaks. I remember the "all the best" lady, but the name escapes me. Rhonda seemed so normal. I had lunch with her o...

Re: Shimmy Shack?

I haven't been in a while, and can't remember everything I've had. Nothing stands out as amazing, but nothing stands out in my (bad) memory as being bad either. However - if you are pressed for time, don't expect to stop in for a quick bite. Every time I go there, my lunch hour turns into nearly 2 h...

Re: JAG and Bam Try Some Ethnic Dining

Ahh, ok. THAT China Doll. I've been there, but it's been a while. I don't make it to the west bank often. (When I do, I have a tendency to lean towards Nine Roses). I can do China Rose for lunch. That's a do-able drive for me if I take a slightly longer lunch hour. I could use some shoe shopping at ...

Re: JAG and Bam Try Some Ethnic Dining

Where is China Doll? If it is close to work, call me. I might make it. I have had a craving for Chinese for weeks and haven't done anything to satisfy it.

Re: Another New Lunch spot in River Ridge/Harahan

River Cafe used to be Orange Tree (years ago). We used to go there a LOT. I've had River Cafe quite a few times. They fax their daily specials to our office. For a while, I would go there pretty regularly. The lunch specials were really good.
