Re: Besh's new place at the Roosevelt

It should be open around the first of August.

And as far as Besh's publicist goes, you might want to take a look at how often you see him on TV and in publications. She's doing a great job, at least if you use those appearances as a yardstick.

Re: Roosevelt Hotel Opening next month

I had a full blown tour of the Roosevelt yesterday. As far as hotels go, it will open as the nicest, by a mile, hotel in the South and one of the best in the country. It's a pretty amazing restoration job. It makes the Windsor Court and the Ritz look like Holiday Inns.

Re: FQ Fest, Abita Beer and Jazzfest

Ok, here's the deal with the beer. It's complicated, sort of, but I know what I am talking about (Turbodog will back me up on this one). 1) The Jazz and Heritage Foundation does not own the liquor license on Gentilly Blvd. It belongs to the Fairgrounds. 2) That's a ruse, as JF totally control who se...

Re: FQ Fest, Abita Beer and Jazzfest

Leinenkugel is owned by Miller (since 1988) and Pilsener Urquell is owned Miller as well. Beyond that, P.U. is now brewed in several places in Central Europe and has ceased to be a "local" brand. Pretty much, if it doesn't belong to Miller, you ain't gonna see it on Gentilly Blvd. Ever, or...

Re: Pre-BBQ Saturday Night

I need to get a smoker that allows me to do that LNS, I can easily stay up till midnight, certainly much easier than getting up at 4. I've tried a couple of times with friends to just stay up all night BBQing (and drinking) for a noon lunch and neither time did it turn out well. I've seen those pel...

Re: Bam bam reviews coquette....live

The guy next to me ordered an abita amber which is an ale but he is drinking the beer from a pilsener glass so gauche. Small just arrived. A pumpkin cappelletti. Enjoyed the play by play, but just for the record, Amber is made, and always has been since day one, with lager yeast. Turbodog is made w...

Re: Best Meal in 2008

This has been a weak year for great meals. This is the first calendar year in as long as I can remember that we have not made a single trip to NYC. For various work reasons, I was in NYC alot this year and, not surprisingly, my two best meals were there. One was at 11 Madison Park and the other was...

Re: Which would you choose?

I'm looking for something to eat before going to the Dome tomorrow night. I'm thinking apps/salads/small plates. I can't eat a heavy meal then go, I'd want a nap. Anyway, I'm thinking between these 4..or do you have a better idea... Herbsaint , they have the bistro menu til 5.30 or their dinner men...

All you ever want to know about butts and shoulders. In fact, probably more than you wanted to know.

Smoking Butts

While it's a long read, there is lots of good information in this thread.
