Re: Pepper Mill/Grinder
I have a pair of salt and pepper mills that I bought at Caire. They're lucite, about 7 inches high and work fabulously. I think they were about $12 each.

Perhaps you'd enjoy a salade Nicoise. Langenstein's has a special of fresh tuna this week. Just add boiled potatoes, green beans, HB egg, black olives and because I hate anchovies, I put a squirt of anchovy paste in the dressing. Oh, don't forget some Creole tomatoes and lettuce.

Re: Whole Foods' Butchers
I've been to WF in New Orleans, Metairie. Houston and Dallas and all of the seafood counters STINK. What's wrong with these people? This is why I shop at Langenstein's.

Re: Pork Loin: What Else To Do With It???
I like to roast a pork loin for dinner parties. Plump prunes or dried apricots in Cognac or California brandy. Using a boning knife or sharpning knife steel, make a hole down the center and stuff with the fruit. Roast in the oven. The aroma is incredible and permeates the meat.

Re: Good Asian Cookbook?
My favorite is the Pleasures of Chinese Cooking published in the '50's by the late Grace Zia Chu. She was the head of the China America Institute and taught cooking in NYC. I checked Amazon and you can still get it. It uses mostly American ingredients and is very basic. Millionaire Chicken is a gem.

Re: Cocktail Sauce Recipe?
Chili Sauce (not ketchup)
lots of lemon juice
so much horseradish that the sauce turns pink
Tabasco
I never use L&P, but I guess that would be good
I use this mainly for boiled shrimp and sometime for oysters; however, when getting unwashed P&J's, I use nothing.

I really like Manchego with Goya guava paste (available at Langenstein's). Also another favorite I had a Luke's is Clemson Blue from Clemson University that I thought was excellent.

Re: Do you say dinner or supper?
In my experience, especially in an urban setting, we eat lunch and dinner, dinner being the larger meal. However in rural and farming communities, dinner is eaten at the noon hour and supper is served at night, primarily consisting of leftovers or sandwiches.

I personally love Mosca's. You just have to know how to order and you really don't need one entree per person. This is a restaurant where you share.
