Re: The Official Independence Day Thread

Cao has about a 10 percent shot. If he'd voted for health care, he'd have a 50 percent shot.

Re: Mona's vs Lebanon Cafe

I think Mona's has taken a nosedive in quality and consistency. For a restaurant that started out as a pita bakery, it's unbelievable how many times we've been served cold, stale pitas. Lebanon has them beat in terms of service, atmosphere and food by a pretty significant margin.

Regardless, I think we all still owe BP a big apology.

Re: A weekend of ups and downs

How were the nitrogen martinis? We walked by Bouche a few weeks ago after dinner at A Mano. From the hilariously pretentious verbiage on the sign outside to the pulsing downtempo playing on the sidewalk to the sweaty, uncomfortable looking patrons squeezed into trendy furniture on display in their w...

Re: Let's talk about food.

We went to Green Goddess for the second time last month. The food and cocktails are good (the menu has an almost idiot savant quality at times), but this is a restaurant that's a victim of its own success. Even when they're not busy, the service is slow. Re: Is the Steve Zahn character on Treme...

All three episodes have left me feeling unsatisfied. I feel like they've peeled back one layer of the onion--the "Big Easy" layer--but they're still just presenting a pretty conventional monochromatic "liberal" take on New Orleans post-Katrina: cops harassing the cultural class (...

Re: Is the Steve Zahn character on Treme...

Ha ha. I've known Davis for years. His defining characteristic is his annoyingness, but he was one of the first white people I knew who actually lived in Treme way back in the day. I didn't know about him and Spicer, although back in the '90s she had a bit of a reputation as what one today might cal...

Re: Time to Buy a New Car---HELP!!!!!!!

If you visit Edmunds.com, you can enter the specifications of the car you're thinking of and get a "TMV" price, which corresponds to the average of what consumers are paying in this specific area. You can use that number as a benchmark. Next send an email to the Internet sales manager of a...
