Re: Clementine's

Too bad Clementine's is on the West Bank, because like you say they're just off the radar. We had a wonderful meal there, but it has been a couple of years back. I remember my wife raving about the Moules AND they served a traditional Coup Denmark which had her giggling with memories of her childhoo...

Re: Attention Big Green Eggs Fans!

The shape and concept have been around for a while in Asian markets....were they really BGE brands? As a related note, Bassil's Hardware on Transcontinental is opening a Green Egg and Grilling showroom next door to the hardware store. No Jerry, I can almost assure you they were not actual BGE's. I ...

I am still stoked about seeing those cookers used as movie props way back in 1967! It was awesome! Of course I'm using BGE as a generic term, but the...

Re: Revolution 2006 Shiraz McLaren Vale (Corrina Rayment)

Your mention of Carmelo's reminds me of a recommendation passed-on by someone I really trust a long time ago, and I've still never been there. I don't know why. I guess I better put it back on my list since we are on a new dining format comprised of places we have never been. Trying to break out of ...

Re: Who gets the passing/failing grade post-K?

Mandina's has improved since the storm. You can argue quality but it by no means deserves an F. The only reference to an academic grading system was yours. However, if you want to consider a C on your scale as passable, then by all means, Mandina's is passable. The OP was focused on restautrants wh...

Re: Who gets the passing/failing grade post-K?

I would add a couple of neighbourhood mainstays in Mandina's and Casamento's, who have both gone downhill badly since the storm. imo

Re: Ramsay To Bring "Nightmares" to N.O.

Except for the original Brennan's and Commander's Palace, he could do a wholesale drive-by on the entire Brennan Chain imo--make it a two hour Ramsay/Brennnan extravaganza...

Re: Name that pepper

Those are not Chile Pequins, for sure. See if you can match your pics to google pics of Tabasco Peppers or those hungryone mentioned.

p.s. better yet, take your pics to Harold's Nursery; he'll end the suspense immediately.

Re: Name that pepper

Google Chile Pequin and see what you find. My guess is that you had some variety of that plant. They make excellent Hot Vinegar.
