Re: Eastern St. Tammany Dayride
OK, the cat sh*t in the corner wasn't even hearsay. :p But I remember hearing years back (c.25?) that the castle was built by a guy from da parish, who was a contracter. Re: Eastern St. Tammany Dayride
Thanks Mrs. Fury and Jeeves for the pics.
It's my understanding that the guy that built the "round castle" on Hwy. 11 was from Chalmette. He had a bunch of cats, and wanted to live some place where they couldn't crap in the corner:crap::o

I bought a Martha Stewart hand-held manual can opener at K-Mart two years ago. Around $15 (?). Heavy duty and well made. Works great.

Re: Marinated Flank Steak
Flank steak has a very coarse grain. As L-N-S stated, it should be cut on a bias. AND it should be cut across the grain of the meat, least it will be chewy and stringy.

Sammy's Food Service Report
I had lunch at Sammy’s Food Service yesterday (Whatever “Food Service” means). It’s on Elysian Fields Ave. between the I-610 and the overpass. It looked like about half of the customers were eating in and half were taking orders to go. I got the half and half fried shrimp and fried oysters. It came ...

Re: How to get rid of ants around the sink?
Bdavid mentioned that these might be "sugar ants." There are numerous common names for small household ants; little black ants, crazy ants, etc. Many of these names are local and have little to do with the actual scientific names of the ants in question. Morphological identification by a G...
