Ends up being true. Interesting the new format includes "resident mentor" Jimmy Iovine, and the judges-as-coaches model, sounding very much like the format of Simon's new project, X Factor.

Harry Connick, Jr, Elton John, Justin Timberlake, among others' names have been floated as well. Lythgoe was quoted a while back as saying, if he returned as producer (which he is), he would favor a clean slate re: the judging panel.
