Digital TV tech question

I have a Sony Bravia digital HD TV. Anyone have a quick answer on how to view a VHS tape on it?

I plugged it getting sound and a half scrambled picture.

You're probably using the component inputs (three cables for video, 2 for sound). Look for the composite (sometimes called A/V) which are three cables - red/white for sound and yellow for video.
