He plays a miserable man.... a liar and very unsociable. Hates his neighbors. I love the gal who plays his level-headed wife. Can't remember what I used to watch her in.... I'm thinking that she played Richard Mulligan's insecure daughter in a Maude spin-off. Real whiny.... "But, Daddy!!!!!".
