Tiny horses at Fairgrounds

Post by lawgreenie »

Anyone been out to check out this meet?

And where does betting on quarterhorses rank on the gambling degenerate scale?

Take it from someone who previously owned and raced quarter horses: it is the most corrupt sport imaginable, including professional boxing.

If you don't have a bad toupee, a vinyl sport coat and a cheap cigar, then quarter horse racing isn't for you.

While I've never been to a quarter horse race, and can't comment on the accuracy of the stereotype Bams indicated, I'd just come in to say that the quarter horse is the real man's horse. I adore them, and would love to watch them race even if I might be standing next to some greasy characters.

Did you know that they were called quarter horses because they run the quarter of mile the fastest? They are also prized for cattle driving because of their stocky hindquarters and endurance. They're good at turning on their haunches, important for cornering quick cattle. Let's see a thoroughbred do that! Its sort of like comparing a grey hound who can only run fast to a border collie, who can run fast and work.

Ok, so Bam might be right about the characters that flock to their racing, but I still love the horse. I just thought I might spread the appreciation.

I'm not up on these things - horses, miniature horses, quarter horses. I'm a cat person.

Is this what Lawgreenie and Bam Bam meant?

Ha, Schuarta!

When I see "quarter horse" I'm thinking American Quarter Horses (in another life I was a trail guide/riding instructor).

This is what I'm talking about at least. Look at that chunky butt!

I LOVE that quote, too cute!
