Sangria Recipes?

Post by NoNoNanette »

Got a good Sangria recipe? Had one many years ago, but lost it....I remember putting a good bit of Brandy in it for an extra kick.

TIA

for sangria by the glass, I use a recipe from Mexico that uses a bit of ice, club soda, simple syrup or sweet n sour mix, and red or white wine and a squeeze of lime. I layer it just like that for visual effect for the red sangria.

if I'm making a pitcher, then I'll add everything except the soda and then add the soda as each glass is poured. depending on what fruit I have, I've added grape, strawberries, apples and allow to soak for hrs in fridge. SAMS has a big bag of frozen mixed fruit that works well too to pop in glass to keep it chilled.

if you like them a bit sweeter, then add a splash of triple sec.

Sangria recipe from a Honduran friend:

Mix together:

1/2 quart red wine (Burgundy, Beaujolais, etc)
1/2 quart orange soda (Orange Crush, Sunkist, etc)
1 tablespoon Cointreau
1 tablespoon cognac
2 tablespoons sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
Add lemon halves to mixture and also add other sliced fruit (oranges, apples, etc)
1 cinnamon stick

Refrigerate overnight.

Good stuff!

For both red and white sangria, in addition to slicing fruit to marinate in the wine, I dice some and set aside in container to to garnish each glass... strawberries, apple, orange, peaches, halved grapes, melon (whatevers on hand)

Red :
bottle of wine
1/4c orange liquor
1/2c brandy
optional: simple syrup or splenda to taste

sliced:
apple
orange
lemon
lime
refrigerate 2 hours then discard fruit
serve over ice with diced fruit and a splash of club soda

white (from cuisine at home)

1/2c simple syrup
1 bottle white wine
3/4c brandy
1 vanilla bean
1 lime, sliced
1/2 frsh pineapple slice into rings

chill 2 hours

stir in:
2c club soda
cubed ice
(I prefer to add soda to individual glasses)

garnish:
fresh mint
fresh raspberries
