Le Meritage

Post by Yvette »

Went to the Silver Oak wine dinner last night at Le Meritage. The dinner was fantastic. This Chef is really doing very nice dinners. His name is Michael Farrell.

I have only been to dinners there that are events. I am going to make a point of going there for dinner in the near future to test his menu not associated with a function.

First course was seared bacon wrapped pheasant breast with arugula and heirloom tomato. I usually do not eat bacon, but this was crispy and very thin. Did not take away from the taste of the pheasant which was done so tender and delicious.

Second course was the Duck two ways.....my cup of tea. Foie Gras and truffled potato. OMG!!!!

Entree was mixed grill of Tenderloin of Beef, Venison Loin and Lamb Chop with Juniper Berry Demi.

Every time we do one of the wine dinners there, we say we are going back for dinner, but never make it. This time for sure I am planning it.

Wines were:
Reception-2009 Twomey Savignon Blanc, Napa Valley....I drank scotch
Course one- 2008 Twomey Pinot, Russian River Valley....very good and rich
Course two- 2005 Twomey Merlot, Napa....not my favorite
Course three- 2006 Silver Oak Cab, Alexander Valley... my favorite
- 2005 Silver Oak Cab, Napa Valley....my second favorite

Oh, and they had a chocolate sampler, I don't eat dessert, but everyone else went nuts over it
