American Idol - New judges?

Rumor has it that Idol will be all shook up by replacing all of the judges. Simon has already left, of course, and now Ellen has announced her "choice" to leave. Idol needs a shake up, but rumors of Diddy? Jessica Simpson? Nigel Lythgoe? I'm digging the idea of Kara being gone and Ellen did NOT fit in at all but is this going to be any better?

I didn't bother watching this season because of (no talent, no experience) Ellen.

Nigel is brilliant as a judge, and I enjoy SYTYCD thoroughly.

Harry Connick, Jr, Elton John, Justin Timberlake, among others' names have been floated as well. Lythgoe was quoted a while back as saying, if he returned as producer (which he is), he would favor a clean slate re: the judging panel.

Jennifer Lopez is rumored to be on the brink of accepting. This is a good way to attract a bunch of attention to a show that didn't do well last year.

Timberlake declined. I'd like to see a clean sweep.

No more Kara. I may watch just to enjoy that.

Ends up being true. Interesting the new format includes "resident mentor" Jimmy Iovine, and the judges-as-coaches model, sounding very much like the format of Simon's new project, X Factor.

It will be interesting to see which show does better. I tend to think it'll be Simon's for the newness factor. I don't know how much fun JLo and Tyler will be.
