Gumbo

Post by flyinbayou »

OK, with the change of weather and the Gumbo Fest talk, I am having a hankering for some gumbo.
Problem is, I have meals booked through the weekend so....here are my requirements if you have a favorite gumbo destination:

It must be a easy for to park
I must be able to take it out
Don't care if it is hot or cold
Should be a darker, rouxy (not flour-y) gumbo.
Should have, but not required, seafood in it.
No rice in it!

Any suggestions?

I apologize for taking liberty with the English language.

Don's on Vets. has a very good dark gumbo, with rice on the side.

Langenstein's makes a good seafood gumbo. I usually pick up some shrimp and oysters to liven it up.

I'll have a seafood okra gumbo as a special tomorrow (Friday) and I believe we meet all of your criteria.

Beautiful! Is that everyday that you make that? I am not sure that gumbo will get through TSA (gels and liquids thing) and my flight was moved up so I have to be out of the house by 1030.

Just curious FiB, how far is this gumbo going?

Chef Airline, if at all possible, I will try to make it over tomorrow to get some of your gumbo!

I didn't gather that you wanted this before heading to the airport. It probably won't be totally ready until 11am.
Of course, as the day goes on, the flavors will be better.

I was going to take it with me to eat on the flight, not necessarily to bring to anybody.

No problem. I will try to pass by sometime this week. Is it an everyday menu item or on Friday's only?
