orange beach visit

Post by Gourmondo »

Just back from a week at the beach in Perdido/Orange Beach. Small tar balls were present on the beach on the Gulf side, but not very extensive in our area. The Gulf water actually looked completely clear of junk. The water on the north side of Perdido between the Key and Ono Island seemed fine. Very little boat traffic out on Old River for mid-June and at night it looked like only 15% of Ono was occupied. Restaurants are really getting hit down there, particularly the less casual ones. Geno's in OB has maybe 35 tables, of which only six were occupied at 7 PM on Friday night (including ours). Menus don't seem to have been affected much, but I didn't ask for oysters either. Snapper tournament in OB was cancelled. Joe Patti was on the tube advertising East Coast seafood he had in. Sad.
