Re: Fried Chicken

The fried chicken at Craby Jacks is pretty damn good, cooked to order, so it takes some time. Also, the old Pampy's on Broad street is a tribute to Austin Leslie, may even have his name involved. You can get a #9 which is a throwback to Chez Helene.....2 pieces of fried chicken (they pour melted but...

Re: Martin's Uptown

Re: Jacob's in LaPlace on fire

This is terrible news for me....Jacob's is my alltime favorite...I've got 4 sticks of sausage and 3 hunks of tasso.....guess I'll have to ration my candy for a while and hope it's not permanent.

Re: Favorite Sno-Ball, Favorite Sno-Ball Stand?

I know it is far from the"best"...but I live very near Pandoras on Carrolton and Dumaine. So my ability to see when the line is short is the factor here. I know that Dr. John grew up around on Delgado as a little boy and talks about the Bubblegum snoballs of his youth....these are the blue...

Lunch on Monday

I have some friends coming this weekend from the West coast, and I need to take them to a nice lunch on Monday. I typically do the low profile places like Rivershack or Parkway.....but these guys are Hollywood and need more "profile". The problem is it being a Monday....any suggestions?

once upon a vine

I make this post every year, with little response. Is anybody going to Once Upon a Vine this Sunday? I always have a great time at this event. So much better than the big things, more of a controlled environment and MUCH better wines. This year seems to be heavy on good champagnes, which works for m...

Re: ATLanta area food

I know the scene in ATL pretty well....let me know more specifically what you're looking for....having said that: One of my favorite places in town is Babette's. It is in a little house on Highland ave. There is a strong Louisiana connection there, not necessarilary food, but attitude. My favorite w...
