I have to agree with Royal China for Chinese food. It beats Five Happiness hands down.

Re: Cursed Locations
It's true. Most people are sheep and will not deviate even one block from the main drag (Vets for example). La Famiglia is a pretty good place and not even 1/2 block off of Vets. It's one building off of Vets and it gets avoided like the plague. When I went to Gatlinburg this summer we found a littl...

Re: Hubig's Custard Pies
I emailed Hubig's yesterday and received a reply... No, we don't make the custard pies right now. In fact, we aren't making any round (baked) pies. And we haven't figured out a way to fry a good custard pie! The ovens weren't irreparably damaged, there are a number of reasons we haven't brought back...

Re: Hubig's Custard Pies
I haven't seen them lately, but the last place I did see one was Breaux Mart, I think. I don't recall how long ago. Their website may have the answer. Hey, how's the baby girl doing? 15 months old, and we are having a blast! It's so much fun having a baby in the house again. Thanks so much for aski...

Hubig's Custard Pies
Does anyone know if they are making the big custard pies? I haven't seen them recently. I get a craving once in a while, but I don't remember when or where I've last seen them. I don't see them on the website.

Re: Those Little Freeze Dried Shrimp
You're right, people must be buying them if they've been ubiquitous for generations. The funny thing is, I have never witnessed anyone actually tear a pack from those staple cards by the the checkout that they come on...not once. I also realized that I could never be a replacement for Andrew Zimmern...

Re: Byblos Lunch
Two things I go nuts for over there are the Eggplant and Crab Cake and the Mousaka. Just incredible. The eggplant cake has this incredible flavor and is fried crispy around the edges with the crabmeat sauce on top. The mousaka, interestingly enough, seems very New Orleansy to me. It's basically eggp...

Those Little Freeze Dried Shrimp
So, I have been seeing these at the counter of every convenience store I've entered my entire life. Bought some on a whim tonight...and promptly spit them out. Horrendous! I had wondered for 40 years, and now I know. Anyone else ever eat these?
