sue, I would say most people in the South as a whole do not batter their catfish but rather dredge it in a mix of cornmeal/flour. You might be able to find a box of Fish Fry in your grocery store or at least in a Walmart grocery department. That product is a good approximation of what we would make ...

Cafe au lait, I meant "French's" the hot dog mustard. I always thought it had a healthy dose of turmeric.
Sorry Spudly, I need to read more closely. I have heard that mustard from France has tuRmeric, or at least it has the same brain benefits as tuRmeric. I will research this further.
